# Email and SMTP

> Understand which emails TokenSupply sends, and optionally send them from your own mail server so they come from your domain.

TokenSupply sends email on your store's behalf: sign-in codes, order delivery links, team and vendor invites, and notifications you have turned on. By default these are sent through TokenSupply's own mail service. If you want them to come from your own domain instead, set up custom SMTP in **Settings > Email**.

## Which emails TokenSupply sends

* **Sign-in codes** when you or a teammate sign in with a one-time code.
* **Order delivery** emails with the private link a buyer uses to reveal their keys.
* **Invites** to teammates and to vendors.
* **Notifications** you have chosen to receive. See [Notifications](/guides/settings/notifications).

  Custom SMTP is optional. While it is off, your store's emails are sent through TokenSupply's default mail service, and fulfilment still works.

## Send from your own server

<Steps>
  <Step title="Enable the email service">
    Open **Settings > Email** and turn on the switch in the **Email service** section. Its status changes from **Inactive** to **Active**.

  <Step title="Enter your SMTP details">
    Under **SMTP configuration**, fill in **SMTP host**, **Port**, **Username**, and **Password**, along with the **From email** your recipients will see. **From name** is optional. Under **Encryption**, choose what your provider uses: **TLS**, **SSL**, or **None**.

  <Step title="Save your settings">
    Select **Save settings**. Your password is stored securely and never shown back to you. To change it later, enter a new one; leaving the field blank keeps the current one.

  <Step title="Send a test">
    Select **Send test email** to confirm everything works. The test uses your saved settings, so save any changes first.

<Warning>
  Turning the service on is not enough on its own. Your store keeps using TokenSupply's default mail service until you save your server details. Once saved, your store's emails send through your own server.

<Tip>
  Sending from your own domain improves deliverability and makes your emails feel like they come from you. Your mail or domain provider can give you the SMTP host, port, and credentials to enter here.
