# Add and manage customers

> Keep a record of who you sell to, their contact details, and how much they have ordered.

Customers are the people and businesses you sell to. A customer record keeps their contact details in one place, powers your delivery emails and invoices, and keeps count of how much they have ordered.

Channel orders bring their own buyer details, so you only need customer records for the orders you create yourself. A manual order needs a customer, and you can add one from the order form without leaving it. A saved customer is worth it when you want to reuse the same contact, send an invoice, or see how much a buyer has ordered.

## Add a customer

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Customers">
    Go to **Customers** in the sidebar and select **Add Customer**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the type">
    Under **Customer type**, pick **Individual** or **Business**. The type shows as a badge when you pick the customer on a new order, so you can tell a B2B buyer apart at a glance.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Fill in the details">
    **First name** and **Last name** are required. Everything else is optional: email address, phone, country, street address, city, state, postal code, and internal notes. **Language** starts on English and **Currency** on EUR, so change them if the buyer needs something else. The email is what a delivery link and any invoice are sent to, so add it if you plan to email the buyer.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Select **Create Customer**. TokenSupply assigns the customer a short reference code so you never have to work with a raw ID.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  You can also add a customer without leaving the order screen. When you create an order, choose **New customer** in the customer picker, fill in the form, and select **Add customer**. The new record is selected for the order right away.
</Tip>

## Individual or Business

Both types share the same contact fields. Choose **Business** for a company buyer. The type drives the badge shown when you pick the customer on an order and lets you filter your customer list. You can change the type later by editing the customer.

## Preferred language and currency

Each customer has a preferred language and a currency. Both show on the customer's record, and you can filter your customer list by either one.

## Find, edit, and export

The customer list has tabs for **All**, **Individual**, and **Business**, plus search across name, email, and customer code. You can filter by currency or language, choose which columns to show, and sort the list.

* **Edit Customer** is in the actions menu on the customer's detail page. Choose **Save Changes** when you are done.
* **Export** downloads everything your current filters select as a CSV, not just the page on screen.
* **Delete Customer**, in the same menu, removes a customer from your list after you confirm. Their past orders still resolve the customer's name, so your order history stays readable.

## Order history and spend

Open a customer to see their detail page. It shows their contact details and internal notes alongside two tabs, **Orders** and **Invoices**. The **Orders** tab gives the number of orders the customer has placed, and both tabs link through to your full **Orders** and **Invoices** lists. The individual orders are not listed on the customer page yet. The list view also shows each customer's order count and total spent as the optional **Orders** and **Total Spent** columns.
